When Michelin in Pirot decided to upgrade its production facility and replace outdated coal-fired boilers, we were faced with the challenge of designing a system that would provide high-pressure, high-capacity steam while meeting strict requirements for energy efficiency and cost optimization.

CLIENT’S CHALLENGE:

The Michelin factory in Pirot aimed to modernize its energy system and achieve greater efficiency in production. The key challenges were:

• transitioning from coal-fired boilers to reliable and stable production of high-pressure, saturated steam at large capacity,
• ensuring continuous supply for the new tire production facility,
• maximizing the use of heavy fuel oil as an energy source,
• solving the issue of waste heat and flue gases that tend to stick to heat exchangers, which significantly hinders efficiency.

OUR SOLUTION:

Energy Net implemented a solution in the form of a steam block boiler room with a capacity of 25 tons and a pressure of 25 bar, equipped with a state-of-the-art Bosch modular steam boiler with advanced automation to achieve maximum efficiency. In addition to the boiler room itself, a 1,000-meter-long steam pipeline was installed to ensure stable supply across the entire facility.
The greatest technical challenge – heavy fuel oil flue gases sticking to the heat exchangers – was successfully overcome with Bosch’s steam injection solution, allowing the system to maintain full functionality and high efficiency.

RESULT:

• stable and continuous steam production for tire manufacturing,
• proven maximum system efficiency,
• optimal utilization of waste heat,
• minimized energy costs with long-term boiler room reliability.
